HVAC Maintenance

Maintenance Checklist

  • Replace your furnace filter every 90 days and more frequently if you have pets, excessive dust or a family member with severe allergies.  Consider a high-efficiency pleated filter that contains an electrostatic charge that works like a magnet to grab the tiniest particles, mold spores and bacteria – keeping your indoor air clean and healthy.
  • Ensure that your air conditioner or heat pump is on firm, level ground or stable pad.
  • Schedule yearly inspections with a professional HVAC company,  air conditioner (Spring) and furnace (Fall).  During an inspection a technician will clean and inspect the units wiring and mechanical operation, making sure everything is operating safely and efficiently.  Routine inspections prolong the life of your system and save you money on your energy expenses.
  • Check regularly to make sure that there is no debris (leaves, twigs, grass clippings) on or around your outdoor air conditioning unit or heat pump.
  • Inspect the insulation on the refrigerant lines leading into the house. Replace if missing or damaged.
  • Replace the battery in your home’s carbon monoxide detector(s) yearly.
